DESCRIPTION:Our January meeting will be a zoom presentation. Melinda Sherbring (Threads of History) is a published designer and illustrator. She will be presenting a 90 m minute program on “Sweet Bags Richly Embroidered”. Our Zoom presentation will be on Sunday\, January 21\, 2024 at 1:00 pm CST. Zoom links and handouts will be sent the week of the meeting. The zoom room will be opened around 1230 pm for those who want to catch up and show off any finished projects or WIPS. \n          To help incentivize you to finish some of those WIPS\, we will be hosting a Sensational Stitching Challenge! To participate in the challenge\, choose up to five projects that you are challenging yourself to finish for 2024. Include the designer and title of the projects in an email and send to Judy Dixon no later than February 11\, 2024. Projects are to be completed by our October Anniversary Party. Bring completed projects to the anniversary party or email Judy pictures of your finished challenge projects and earn a raffle ticket for each completed project. Tickets will be drawn for prizes at our anniversary party. To make it fun for everyone\, a maximum of one winning prize per person (multiple raffle tickets give you a better chance of winning!).\n          February 11\, 2024 will be our Valentine Exchange at the Barrington Library.  Mark your calendar for these special dates!

SUMMARY:July Meeting: What’s all the Hoopla about Hoops?
DESCRIPTION:Our program\, “What’s all the hoopla about hoops?” will be an engaging exchange of ideas  and show and tell. Bring your favorite hoops\, scrolls and slate frames\, lap and floor stands. Bring the ones you hate to0 – someone may give you a new reason to try it again and love it!\n\n\nDo you love wood or plastic hoops?\nDo you stitch with a vintage hoop?\nDo you use tensioners with your scroll frame?\nDid you know that Tyvek is a conservators friend? I’ll demonstrate how to use it to protect your needlework.\nGrime guards – yes or no?\n\n     Plus\, bring a hoop to bind. A 6 to 8 inch hoop will be just the right size to give it a try (but bring whatever you have!). Examples of different hoops bound in different cottons will be available.

DESCRIPTION:Summer is definitely upon us with vacations\, graduations and general summer fun. This Sunday\, June 11th\, will be part two of our pin cube stitching and finishing program. \nJeanny Cobben has graciously given our guild permission to use her pattern “A Girl and a Squirrel” to have multiple motifs to create our own personalized pin cube.  Bring floss in a complimentary color (perhaps one of the colors used in your pin cube)\, stitching needle\, and scissors that will cut interfacing/linen. Interfacing\, irons\, and wool mat/ironing board will be provided. \nLooking forward to seeing everyone!

DESCRIPTION:We have a fun and creative meeting planned for this Sunday\, March 12 at the Wheaton Community Center. Our 2-part program will be Pin Cubes & Construction. See the meeting reminder email for needed supplies. Handouts of a sampler will be available on Sunday\, along with some other motif ideas for our pin cubes. Victorian ladies would keep toilette pins (cardboard cubes with glass head pins) on their vanity for dressing or in their sewing basket. Recreate a pincube using dutch motifs or designs of your own.

It will be fun! \nValentine Exchange! — Please bring valentines for all. There are usually\nabout 12 to 15 members at our meetings. Valentines are not required\, but you\nwill certainly receive some! Out-of-town members are welcome to participate\nin the Valentine exchange.
